Epson announced the launch of the Epson Stylus Photo R290 single function inkjet photo printer. As compared to the predecessor, the new printer comes in a more compact size. It offers a super fast print speed of 37 ppm (pages per minute) for A4-sized black text document and 38 ppm for colour documents. The printer prints 4R photos under 12 seconds – ideal for users who wish to print a draft image before actual printing.

The Epson Claria Photographic Inks, which duplicate colors, near-perfectly. It employs a six INK dividual cartridge system and the inks are formulated to guard against fading for up to 200 years (in dark album storage conditions).

The printer, like other Epson printers employs the Micro Piezo technology, which does not rely on heat to eject ink droplets. High-speed printing is achieved with Advanced VSDT and it is intelligent enough to dispense fuller sized droplets to cover large color blocks and finer droplets (as small as 1.5 picolitres) when precision is needed.

With the bundled EPSON Photo Enhance software, automatic corrections are applied to common photography flaws such as poor color balance and contrast. There is also Portrait Enhance, which helps boost face meaning and skin radiance in photos. You can also directly print onto the surface of CD/DVDs. The Epson Stylus Photo R290 is ideal for those looking at a devoted photo printer. Available from December, this printer is priced at Rs 11,500.
