Epson has announced the launch of the Epson Stylus Photo R1900. Designed for advanced amateur digital imaging enthusiasts, the new eight-ink A3+ photo printer is equipped with a new ink set and improved image processing technology.

With the inclusion of a new orange ink and improved gloss optimizer, Epson Stylus Photo R1900 offers a significantly wider color gamut. In addition to the standard cyan, magenta, and yellow, the inks add matte black, photo black, red, orange, and a gloss optimiser as well. The orange ink helps expand the color gamut in the red area, producing natural skin tones in A3+ size portraits.

Accompanying the advanced ink system, Epson has teamed up with the Munsell Color Science Lab of Rochester Institute of Technology, a leading center of color science, to develop the Epson New LUT Technology. This intelligent technology uses newly created algorithms to calculate and translate RGB colors to match CMYK prints for maximum precision and consistency with the original image source.

Epson’s LUT Technology also helps with seamless transition between different shades of colors for the most natural and precise replication of the widest range of colors. This results in prints with smooth gradations, reduced graininess, and low color inconstancy, all of which join to create clear and detailed photographic images. The printer is also noted for its agility for use, with a wide variety of paper media as well as printing in a straight line on to CDs and DVDs. Priced Rs 39,999; it will be available from this month.
