Canon has launched the PIXMA iP100 Mobile Printer in the US market. The new printer is space saving, portable and can be easily carried with a laptop.

The PIXMA iP100 printer features a color resolution of a maximum 9600 x 2400 dpi. Further, the printer will be equipped with two black inks, one a pigment-based black ink that delivers laser-like sharp text and another for printing rich photos.

In addition, the PIXMA iP100 printer boasts Auto Image Fix technology that automatically analyzes and categorizes the scenes in photographs and optimizes print output for each individual scene in accordance with the scene type, such as Portrait, Scenery, Snapshot, etc, when using it with a laptop.

The new printer offers speeds of up to 20 pages-per-minute (ppm) for black and up to 14 ppm for color. The PictBridge port delivers an option to print high-quality photographs from a compatible digital camera or DV camcorder without necessitate a computer. Photo-lab quality prints come in 4-x 6 inch, 4-x 8 inch, 5-x 7 inch, 8-x 10 inch, and letter size photos.

“There has never been a better need for mobile technology than now. Being able to complete your job during any state and have it look better than your competition is a very real issue,” said Yuichi Ishizuka, senior vice president and general manager of the shopper Imaging Group at Canon US. “Canon raises the bar in meeting this requires with the new PIXMA iP100 Mobile Printer.”

Besides, users also have an option to print wirelessly from the built-in IrDA port or from select Bluetooth-enabled cell phones and computers with the new optional user installable Bluetooth Unit BU-304. The PIXMA iP100 Mobile Printer will be available in the US market at the estimated price of $249.99.

Last in the line up of the new Sony Photo Printers is the DPP-FP60 which is attractive like to its big brothers DPP-FP90 and DPP-FP70. The Sony DPP-FP60 Photo Printer is also accessible with the DPPA-BT1 Bluetooth adapter (model DPP-FP60BT) that allows easy wireless printing straight from mobile phones and other Bluetooth hold devices.

The Sony DPP-FP60 has been equipped with a 2-inch LCD screen and a Sony BIONZ processor which not only improves the final output but also makes the printer able of handling high-resolution print files of up to 48 Megapixels. Then there is the Face Detection technology which detects human faces in a scene and adjusts contrast and color so and TruFast technology which cuts down delivery time to just 45 seconds for a postcard-sized 4×6” print.

The DPP-FP60 Printer comes bundled with Paper tray, AC adaptor, Cleaning cartridge/paper, CD-ROM (Printer driver, Picture Motion Browser) and will be accessible throughout Europe from May 2007. Other features include; PictBridge support, ‘Superimpose’ mode, special effects like Black & White and Sepia plus Paint, Fish-Eye, Cross and partial color filters.
